Campervan Safety Essentials

Custom Design Campervans

Safety should always be at the forefront of your preparations before a journey. It is crucial
to prioritise safety to ensure a smooth and secure journey. Here are our essential safety tips
and gear to help you stay safe on the road and make the most of your campervan
experience.

Vehicle Maintenance Checks
Before hitting the road, conduct thorough maintenance checks to ensure your campervan is
in top condition. Inspect the tires for wear and tear, check fluid levels, test the brakes, and
examine the electrical and mechanical systems. Address any issues promptly to prevent
breakdowns and ensure a safe journey.

Emergency Kit
Prepare an emergency kit stocked with essential supplies to handle unforeseen situations.
Include items such as a first aid kit, flashlight, batteries, blankets, bottled water, non-
perishable food, a multi-tool, and a portable phone charger. Having these supplies on hand
can provide peace of mind and help you handle emergencies effectively.

Fire Safety
Fire safety is paramount when traveling in a campervan. Install smoke detectors and carbon
monoxide detectors, and check them regularly to ensure they’re in working order. Equip
your campervan with a fire extinguisher and familiarise yourself with how to use it. Practice
safe cooking practices, and never leave cooking appliances unattended.

Navigation and Communication
Ensure you have reliable navigation tools and communication devices to stay on course and
in touch with others. Invest in a GPS navigation system or use smartphone apps with offline
maps. Carry a fully charged mobile phone and, if you are travelling through more remote
areas, consider bringing a backup communication device e.g. a two-way radio or satellite
phone.

Security Measures
Protect your campervan and belongings by implementing security measures. Install locks on
doors and windows, and use additional security devices such as steering wheel locks or
wheel clamps to deter theft. Park in well-lit areas and consider investing in a GPS tracking
system to locate your campervan in case of theft.
